Prior to 2010, it was listed by the U.S. Census Bureau as part of the Lemmon Valley–Golden Valley CDP.

Geography

Golden Valley is located at 39°36′55″N 119°49′35″W / 39.61528°N 119.82639°W / 39.61528; -119.82639 (39.6155, -119.8266), 7 miles (11 km) north of downtown Reno. Lemmon Valley is adjacent to the north.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.6 square miles (9.4 km), all land.
