History

Malta was laid out in 1816. The village was named after the European island of Malta.

Geography

Malta is located at 39°39′2″N 81°51′52″W / 39.65056°N 81.86444°W / 39.65056; -81.86444 (39.650509, -81.864421). It is on the west side of the Muskingum River, opposite McConnelsville.
