History
Severy was originally called Gould, and under the latter name founded in 1879. When the Santa Fe Railway was built through the neighborhood, the name Severy was adopted in honor of Luther Severy, a railroad employee.

Geography
Severy is located at 37°37′21″N 96°13′39″W / 37.62250°N 96.22750°W / 37.62250; -96.22750 (37.622487, -96.227635), along K-99 south of its intersection with U.S. Route 400. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.49 square miles (1.27 km), all of it land.
