History
A post office called Buhl has been in operation since 1900. The city was named for Frank H. Buhl, a businessperson in the mining industry. Buhl was incorporated in 1901.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.56 square miles (9.22 km); 3.35 square miles (8.68 km) is land and 0.21 square miles (0.54 km) is water.
Water
Buhl is noted for its pure water, supplied by a glacial aquifer located 700 feet deep below the surface, encased in 300 feet of solid granite. This is reflected in the city’s motto, prominently displayed on the town’s water tower.
