History

A post office has called Solway has been in operation since 1898. The city was named after the Solway Firth.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.03 square miles (2.67 km), all land.

Solway is located within Lammers Township geographically but is a separate entity. It is 13 miles west of Bemidji, along U.S. Highway 2 and Beltrami County Road 5.
