Geography

Spartansburg is located near the northeast corner of Crawford County at 41°49′19″N 79°41′9″W / 41.82194°N 79.68583°W / 41.82194; -79.68583 (41.821980, -79.685957). It is surrounded by Sparta Township, a separate municipality.

Route 77 passes through the center of the borough, leading northeast 8 miles (13 km) to Corry and southwest 28 miles (45 km) to Meadville, the Crawford County seat.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.71 square miles (1.83 km), of which 0.68 square miles (1.76 km) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km), or 4.23%, is water.

Natural Features

Spartansburg Borough is located on the glaciated plateau of northwestern Pennsylvania. The borough is drained by East Branch Oil Creek, which begins at the outlet of Clear Lake, an impoundment of Patrick Run and Stranahan Run. The lowest elevation in Spartansburg is 1,430 ft (440 m) where East Branch Oil Creek flows south out of the borough. The highest elevation is 1,640 ft (500 m) at the southeastern corner of the borough.
