In 2017, Apple Inc. chose Waukee as the location of a massive $1.38 billion data center campus.

History

Waukee was laid out as a town in 1869. It is thought to be named after The Milwaukee Railroad. Waukee was incorporated on December 23, 1878.

Geography

Waukee is located at 41°36′32″N 93°51′55″W / 41.60889°N 93.86528°W / 41.60889; -93.86528 (41.608974, -93.865320). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.99 square miles (33.64 km), of which 12.97 square miles (33.59 km) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km) is water. It is known for its Waukee Stadium.
