History

Ravenwood was laid out in 1887 when the railroad was extended to that point. The community has the name of the original owner of the land where the village now stands. A post office called Ravenwood has been in operation since 1888.

Geography

Ravenwood is located on Missouri Route 46 just north of the junction with US Route 136. Maryville is approximately ten miles to the west on Route 136 and Parnell is six miles to the northeast on Route 46. The Platte River flows past the west side of the community.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.27 square miles (0.70 km), all land.
