History

A post office called Edgerton has been in operation since 1871. The community was named after one Mr. Edgerton, a railroad employee.

Geography

Edgerton is located along Missouri routes B and Z. The community is 1.5 miles east of the Platte River on Grove Creek. The Smithville Reservoir is about six miles east in adjacent Clinton County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.11 square miles (2.87 km), all land.
