History
Eolia was platted in 1881 along the railroad line. The community was named for Aeolus, the ruler of winds in Greek mythology. A post office called Eolia has been in operation since 1881.
The Griffith–McCune Farmstead Historic District and St. John’s Episcopal Church are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Geography
Eolia is located along US Route 61 one half mile north of the Pike-Lincoln county line.
