History

Marquand was platted in 1869, and named after Henry G. Marquand, a railroad official. A post office called Marquand has been in operation since 1870.

Geography

Marquand is located adjacent to the Castor River on Missouri Route A. Whitener Creek flows through the town from the northeast. The town is about 10.5 miles southeast of Fredericktown.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.24 square miles (0.62 km), all land.
