Geography

Garfield is located at 30°11′46″N 97°33′5″W / 30.19611°N 97.55139°W / 30.19611; -97.55139 (30.196097, −97.551480), 12 miles (19 km) southeast of downtown Austin.

According to the United States Census Bureau in 2000, the CDP has a total area of 13.9 square miles (35.9 km), of which, 13.7 square miles (35.4 km) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km) of it (1.44%) is water. Prior to the 2010 census, part of the CDP was annexed to the city of Austin, reducing its area to 12.2 square miles (32 km), of which, 12.0 square miles (31 km) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km) is water.
