Dorchester is located in southern Grayson County at 33°31′54″N 96°41′56″W / 33.53167°N 96.69889°W / 33.53167; -96.69889 (33.531613, –96.698999). It is 13 miles (21 km) southwest of Sherman, the county seat, and 30 miles (48 km) north of McKinney.
